What is Spedra?
Spedra is an erectile dysfunction medication that is produced by the pharmaceutical company Menarini. Erectile dysfunction describes a condition in which an erection does not occur at all or cannot be sustained long enough. The active ingredient Avanafil acts against this issue and ensures that sexual stimulation can create an erection and that it can be sustained for long enough.
How does Spedra work?
Avanafil, the active ingredient in Spedra, is a so-called PDE-5 inhibitor. This means that the medication regulates the release of the enzyme phosphodiesterase-5. This enzyme is responsible for subsiding an erection by breaking down the messenger substances that are responsible for dilating the blood vessels in the penis. In erectile dysfunction, phosphodiesterase-5 is overactive or excessively produced, causing blood vessels in the penis to narrow before an erection can occur or before intercourse is successfully completed. Avanafil reduces the level of phosphodiesterase-5 in the bloodstream for the duration of the effective period and one or more erections can occur when the libido is stimulated.
How long does Spedra last?
Spedra has an average duration of action of approximately 6 hours, which begins just 12 minutes after taking the medication. The peak of its effect occurs after 15 to 30 minutes and then declines slowly over the next 5 hours or so. Therefore, the medication works faster than comparable products on the market. Within the duration of the medication's action it is possible to get several erections.
When is Spedra used?
Spedra is used when a man has been diagnosed with erectile dysfunction. This disorder can occur in both younger and older men. While younger men tend to have erectile dysfunction for psychological reasons, such problems at an advanced age may be due to physical causes and other conditions, such as high blood pressure.
Who can take Spedra and who should not?
Generally, Spedra is suitable for adult men over the age of 18 who have erectile dysfunction. Whether the medication is suitable as an erectile dysfunction remedy for you is determined by a physician after the consultation, which you can do at DoktorABC via an online questionnaire. Please read the side effects tab for additional info.
Can I take Spedra every day?
Generally, doctors do not recommend taking Spedra daily. Only use the medication if you are planning to have sexual intercourse. It is not yet clear, how regular intake will work over the long term, but alternatives such as Cialis Daily are offered for this purpose.
Are there alternatives to Spedra?
Spedra is a relatively new erectile dysfunction medication that has only been available on the market since 2014. There are other Erectile Dysfunction Medications that are also based on PDE-5 inhibitors and that have been available on the market for longer. These include the following medications:
- Viagra containing the active ingredient Sildenafil
- Cialis containing the active ingredient Tadalafil
- Levitra containing the active ingredient Vardenafil
For these medications, there are some lower priced generic products available that can achieve the same effect. In contrast, there are no generic Spedra versions available, yet, as this product is still under its original patent protection.
What is the difference between Spedra and Viagra or Cialis?
This product has the fastest effect out of all erectile dysfunction medications currently available on the market. It begins to work as early as 12 to 15 minutes after ingestion. Other similar medications usually begin to work between 30 and 60 minutes after ingestion. Spedra reviews highlight another difference between this medication and the other products mentioned above which is the duration of its action. While Viagra and Levitra only work for around 4 hours, Spedra has an average action time of 6 hours. Cialis, on the other hand, can have effects that last up to 36 hours.
Does Spedra help men with diabetes or those who have had their prostate gland removed?
Spedra's efficacy has also been demonstrated in diabetic patients or men with a surgically removed prostate gland. There are two situations that are often associated with erectile dysfunction due to damage to the nerve tracts and calcium deposits. Studies have shown that the likelihood of successful sexual intercourse increases significantly when taking Spedra 100 mg or Spedra 200 mg. For more information on which cases the medication may not be taken for, check the instructions in the package leaflet or in consultation with a doctor.
Can I buy Spedra over the counter?
Like all PDE-5 inhibitor-based products, you cannot buy Spedra without a prescription from a doctor. Only a qualified doctor can determine whether the medication is suitable for a particular patient and, therefore, reduce the risk of an individual suffering from any dangerous side effects. The prescription requirement also protects consumers from counterfeit medications. Unfortunately, there are many for sale online that are distributed illegally and may contain hazardous ingredients. A medical prescription submitted to a certified pharmacy ensures the safety and authenticity of the product.
Use our online doctor and pharmacy service to be sure to get licensed medications. At DoktorABC you can receive a medical consultation, prescription, the medication and delivery from our mail-order pharmacy conveniently and discretely online.
Which dosages of Spedra are available?
Spedra is available in the dosages 50 mg, 100 mg and 200 mg. The mg value indicates the proportion of the active ingredient Avanafil in the product. As a rule, doctors typically recommend starting treatment using this medication with 100 mg. If this dosage does not produce the desired effect or causes unpleasant side effects, the dosage may be increased or decreased as needed.
For younger men, a 50 mg dose may be sufficient. In cases where erectile dysfunction is psychological, a low dose may be sufficient to help increase the patient's self-esteem and correct the erectile dysfunction issue. An increased risk of side effects exists in men over 70 years. Here, it is advisable to first test the tolerability with a low dose and possibly gradually increase the dosage afterwards with Spedra 100mg or Spedra 200mg under the advice of a doctor.
How to take Spedra
Before, during or after meals, take a Spedra tablet whole along with plenty of water. Especially rich meals can weaken the effect of the medication. You should take the medication before planned sexual intercourse and never more than one pill per day. The upper limit of 200 mg of Avanafil per day should not be exceeded in any case, otherwise, the risk of side effects increases dramatically. A double dose of the medication does not increase or prolong the efficacy in any way and is therefore pointless.
Can Spedra be taken while drinking alcohol?
It is not recommended to take Spedra while drinking alcohol. Alcohol can increase the risk of side effects, as in combination with the medication it can increase the heart rate and lower blood pressure. The side effects of this may include dizziness and fainting, as well as headaches. Alcohol can also reduce or even eliminate the effectiveness of the drug completely.
